NEW MUSIC ON THE POINT FESTIVAL – Season III

June 3, 2013 through June 16, 2013

The New Music On The Point Festival encourages imaginative collaboration among composers, instrumentalists, and singers creating contemporary music in a glorious setting on the shores of Lake Dunmore in Vermont.  Our two-week program fosters music-making in a relaxing environment where aspiring musicians may explore and grow.

During New Music On The Point’s 2013 season, participants will work with distinguished Composers-in-Residence Kathryn Alexander (Yale University), Jason Eckardt (CUNY/Brooklyn College), and Michael Klingbeil (Yale University); the adventurous International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE); and the exciting mezzo-soprano Jennifer Beattie (Philadelphia) with Donna Loewy (CCM), our excellent collaborative pianist and vocal coach.

Our roster of Visiting Master Artists for 2013 includes the composers Tom Cipullo, Daron Hagen, Gilda Lyons, and Yehudi Wyner, as well as the acclaimed American tenor Paul Sperry.  Each of our guests will give a seminar on his/her professional work and offer NMOP 2013 participants critique in master classes and workshops.

During our program, all participants engage in an interactive schedule of private and master class instruction, open rehearsals, seminars, workshops and Salon Night concerts. Every day there is time for composing, practicing, and rehearsing.  Each of the participating composers will have his/her new work premiered on the final concerts of the New Music On The Point Festival.

New Music On The Point is situated right on Lake Dunmore, VT, beneath the Green Mountains, and under a nighttime sky filled with stars. There are teaching/rehearsal studios and practice cabins that dot the woods, most with lake views, and rustic sleeping bunk cabins. Chef Steve and his staff serve gourmet meals daily and this year they’ll be teaching cooking classes!

Applications for our 2013 season are now available.  Please note that application deadlines, decision dates, varying criteria, and e-mail query addresses differ per applicant category. Both financial aid and work study awards are available. We strongly encourage all interested individuals to apply early as spaces in any one discipline, ie., – composition, instrumental and vocal are limited.
