NMOP is a contemporary music festival like no other. Composers and performers from around the world converge on the shores of Lake Dunmore to create brand-new music in an inspiring setting. We provide career-defining mentorship for young musicians and present memorable events by world-class performers that blend new sounds with the breathtaking beauty of Central Vermont.
june FEstival
June 2-14, 2026
Application deadline: January 15
For composers and performers ages 18+. The June Festival features an intensive schedule of lessons, workshops, coachings, presentations, and ensembles, with nightly concerts both on campus and in the community.
SEPTeMBER RETReAT
September 13-17, 2026
Application deadline: May 1
For early and mid-career composers. The family-friendly Retreat is smaller and more relaxed than the June Festival, with time to compose and network as well as receive a professional recording with our outstanding performers.
Without a doubt, NMOP is the best festival I’ve ever been to. Maybe the best two weeks of my life. I felt so uniquely nurtured, both artistically and personally. The sense of truly supportive community, with both participants and faculty treating one another as peers, was truly special, and meant the world to me.
NMOP got me to see performance and art in such a completely different perspective. With many unique creative individuality of each faculty and participants, aspiring performers like myself gained new possibilities in artistic mediums and sources of inspiration.
I loved my time at NMOP and met so many amazing people with good hearts at the top of their craft. It helped me find my music community after graduating from college, and it reignited my passion and dedication to music. The food was super great too.
This was the best summer festival I have ever been to, and perhaps one of the most significant educational experiences of my life. Never before have I been presented with such an open, supportive, and inspiring community of people. I feel confident in saying that I will be working with many of the people I met here for the rest of my life.
